This year’s summer solstice takes place on Tuesday 21st June, marking the astronomical start of summer and the longest day of the year. There are plenty of places to mark the extended daylight hours and warmer months, as St. John’s Wood estate agent Behr & Butchoff reveals.

The Rooftop at The Trafalgar St. James

Overlooking one of London’s most iconic locations, The Rooftop is a fantastic place to toast the summer solstice. This outside terrace is perched high on the top of The Trafalgar St. James hotel, with views across Trafalgar Square and beyond. Book online now to reserve a terrace table for 21st June.

Chelsea Physic Garden

If the solstice is more of a spiritual affair for you, you’ll love the outdoor sound bath event taking place at Chelsea Physic Garden. Between 6-7:30pm on Tuesday 21st June, organic and ancient instruments, including a gong, bowls and voice, will create a truly meditative event. Don’t worry, there’s an alternative inside option if it rains. Tickets can be booked online.

Cadogan Hall

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra play the Cadogan Hall off Sloane Square on Tuesday 21st June. The programme features Beethoven’s King Stephen: Overture; Piano Concerto No. 5, ‘Emperor’ and Symphony No. 7 for a rousing way to celebrate the start of summer. Tickets are priced from just £15.

The Ivy, St. John’s Wood High Street

The Behr & Butchoff team is keeping everything crossed that this year’s summer solstice is a warm, dry affair. If the weather is fine, reserve an outside table at The Ivy on St. John’s Wood High Street and enjoy fine brasserie dining accompanied by a cocktail. May we recommend the French Garden as the ideal summer solstice sip?
