A Prime Minister on the move

As the Conservative party leadership contest heads towards its conclusion and the removal men are poised to install a new leader at No. 10 Downing Street, the Behr & Butchoff team wonder where our former Prime Minister will move next.
Some readers may know that Boris Johnson actually chose to live in No. 11 Downing Street as it has more space than its neighbour – a property point that will also play a part in the family’s search for a new home, with two young children who’ll need room to grow and play.
Despite its central Westminster location, Downing Street does afford residents outside space. The gardens, however, are not always private – as uncovered during the pandemic when MPs and civil servants were photographed in the grounds of No.10, flouting Covid social gathering rules. As well as inside space, Johnson may prefer a more private outside area where his family can relax away from prying eyes.
Here are three properties currently for sale in St. John’s Wood that may tick the boxes of the Johnson family. If something catches your eye and you’d like to beat the departing Prime Minister to one of these houses for sale in St. John’s Wood, please contact the Behr & Butchoff agency team today.
The Johnsons will be used to living in a period property so this Grade II listed dwelling within walking distance of St. John’s Wood High Street would provide a familiar atmosphere. There are five bedrooms, a generous garden, a dedicated office, a lower ground floor au pair’s suite (consisting of an en-suite bedroom, a family room and a utility room) and residents’ parking.

From their time in office, we know the Johnson’s are partial to flamboyant interior design (Lulu Lytle’s gold wallpaper will go down in political history), and this property shows flashes of daring design - note the lilac exterior render - with enough of a blank canvas for Carrie Johnson to get creative. As well as four bedrooms and off-street parking for two cars, there is a useful self-contained studio/gym/office.
Nothing quite says ‘London living’ like a mews property and this fine example is for sale with Behr & Butchoff. As well as a familiar black front door, there’s air-conditioning, off-street parking, a 38’ garden and three bedrooms. At 1,310 square feet, this property will make the perfect pied-à-terre if the Johnsons want to spend more time at their cottage in Thame, Oxfordshire.
Behr & Butchoff holds a waiting list of buyers and tenants who are ready to proceed with a move to the St. John’s Wood neighbourhood. If you would like a valuation in respect of selling or letting your property, please contact the team today.
