A guide to Regents Park NW1
One of London’s most beautiful open spaces, Regent’s Park is mostly pedestrian and is home to the London Zoo, there are also a number of impressive residences including Winfield House, Grove House, Hanover Lodge, Holford House and a number of villas. There are also the ‘Terraces’ designed by Nash and Decimus Burton with their elegant stucco fronted facades.
The park itself had a wide range of facilities including gardens, a lake with heronry, waterfowl and boating area, sports pitches, children’s park and of course the open air theatre, formal Italian gardens, informal English gardens and also Queen Mary’s garden.
Though there are no primary schools specifically within the Regent’s Park area, there are a number in neighbouring Primrose Hill and Marylebone. North Bridge House senior school is a small independent day school for children aged 11 to 16, and at the centre of the park lies Regent’s College – one of the UK’s most respected private higher education colleges offering a variety of courses, including degrees at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level.
Close to the park are the West End, St John’s Wood and Camden so there is no shortage of nightlife and shopping if required. Communications are excellent with access to the London underground network being gained via Regent’s Park, Baker Street and Great Portland Street underground stations, as well as Camden Road and Marylebone railway stations.
