Situated at the north eastern corner of Hampstead Heath at London’s highest natural point, Highgate is a much sought after area with an active conservation body to protect its character. Highgate Village, set on top of a hill, is the central focus with a wealth of shops, excellent pubs and restaurants. It is famous for its cemetery, which is the final resting place of Karl Marx but also boasts other interesting features such at the Egyptian Avenue and a number of gothic tombs. There are a number of schools in the area and also Highgate Golf Club. It’s tree lined streets boast detached Victorian properties, terraced houses as well as a mix of mews streets and cottages.
Highgate Underground Station, Northern Line, gives access to the West End and City via London Underground network. The area is also well served with buses.
